Barry Van Wagner
About Barry

Barry Van Wagner is a native Californian who has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 20 years. Growing up near the ocean in Santa Barbara, he was instilled early on with a love for palm-fringed shores, sparkling blue waters, and beautiful waterscapes (...more). These themes are reflected in many of his photographic images today.

Self-taught in the photographic arts, Barry maintained an interest in photography while completing both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Jumping into the rat race and despite an increasingly hectic work schedule, he continued his photography whenever possible. Beginning in 1997, Barry began a full-time career in freelance photography and writing.

Preferring the vibrancy of color photography, he focuses on images capturing the natural beauty found around us. None of the colors or subjects in his photographic images have been enhanced in any way. From the cobalt blue skies and dazzling white sands of a South Pacific motu to the soothing interplay of autumn colors gracing an Alpine waterfall, these images display the very best that nature has to offer.

His trips across the country and a love for travel around the world have enabled him to photograph many beautiful locations. Among his favorites are the lush, plumeria-scented islands of Polynesia, the boulder-strewn beaches of Seychelles, the elegant countryside of Europe, and the rich diversity found throughout California.

Barry photographs in both 35mm and medium formats using Nikon, Hasselblad, and Fuji camera systems.

An accomplished writer as well, Barry Van Wagner's publication credits include:
